Venture Connect is a wholly-owned social enterprise of Community Futures Alberni-Clayoquot providing services for the sale and purchase of businesses in remote and rural communities in Canada. The social enterprise's focus is to maintain strong communities through business retention during nationwide demographic shifts and a new era of business transitions.

With community and economic development as its foundation, Venture Connect occupies a unique space within the business buy-and-sell marketplace. It recognizes the importance of local knowledge and experience and utilizes collaborative relationships with Community Futures', Economic Development Agencies, Immigration Consultants, REALTORs®, Brokers, and Government to achieve mutual goals.

What We Do

• Assist business owners to connect with buyers, prepare for the sale of their business, understand their position in the buy/sell marketplace, and expose their listing to opportunities

• Assist business buyers, both local and international, to identify and acquire businesses that are the right fit for their skillset, interests, and goals

• Provide a platform for listing agents to connect with buyers and expose their business opportunities

• Assist economic development agencies and governments by researching, analyzing and presenting valuable demographic data for local understanding and decision-making

Venture Connect got its start in 2007 when the enterprising minds at Community Futures Alberni-Clayoquot started researching the demographic trends across Canada. They observed that the overall population was increasing, but the number of working-age people was declining. Canada was at the start of a boom of businesses and a bust of entrepreneurs.

After initial research, development and pilot projects, the result was the creation of Venture Connect, a for-profit subsidiary owned and financed by six Island-Coast Community Futures offices: CF Alberni-Clayoquot (Port Alberni), CF Powell River, CF Sunshine Coast (Sechelt), CF Cowichan (Duncan), CF Central Island (Nanaimo) and CF Mount Waddington (Port McNeil).

In December 2022 the conditions and timing were right for the founders at CF Alberni-Clayoquot to buy out the five CF partner offices. Since then, Venture Connect has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of CF Alberni-Clayoquot.
